SCAN & GO: Major Grocer Rolls Out Cashierless System Pilot

Kroger will expand its Scan, Bag, Go service to 400 stores in 2018 as part of its Restock Kroger strategy to improve the grocery customer experience. The major grocer has strategically placed itself ahead of competitors Walmart and Amazon in the retail tech race to seamless checkouts. Scan, Bag, and Go, which allows customers to scan and pay for their items using a mobile app, will be tested in key markets in Ohio, Georgia, California, and Arkansas, among 35 other states.


Southern Meal Kit Service Founder Moving Southern Food Forward

Judith Winfrey, president of the South’s answer to Blue Apron, PeachDish, was included in Southern Living‘s “30 Women Moving Southern Food Forward.”

PeachDish, an Atlanta based startup, provides meals with small farm-sourced items for recipes developed by Southern food figures like Pableaux Johnson, Nancie McDermott, and Sheri Castle.

Emerson Climate Technologies has agreed to acquire Cooper-Atkins, a leading manufacturer of temperature management and wireless monitoring solutions for foodservice, healthcare and industrial markets. Cooper’s cloud-based products expand Emerson’s global capabilities in monitoring food, its preparation, and other high-value shipments.
