Coca-Cola Makes A Splash in Innovation

Coca-Cola is leading innovative efforts across the board, from supporting STEM education and fostering growth for startups with its Atlanta BridgeCommunity program, to interactive festival wristbands with QR codes built into bottle labels.

The Coca-Cola Company has also been bubbling over with inventive ways of incorporating tech into its business. Just last week, the Atlanta-native soft-drink giant announced that it will be introducing artificial intelligence to link its vending machines to a chatbot in its new Freestyle mobile app.

Designed to be compatible with the eponymous touchscreen vending machines, the Freestyle app allows consumers to order a custom fountain drink for themselves and a friend at the same time. Vending machines on location can also be programmed with personalities to suit the venue, from movie theaters and concert halls to college campuses.

In addition, Coca-Cola has partnered with Chef’d to bring “Refreshing Meal Inspirations” through an assortment of meal kits, pairing Dasani, Gold Peak and other beverages with classics like bacon cheeseburgers. Coca-Cola promises to bring the next generation in beverage supply chain with style.

Tech Companies Take Huge Bite out of Hunger

Tech and tech-enabled companies got outstanding results in the second annual Bytes for Bites competition! Together they raised $67,773 and 4,352 pounds of food for the Georgia Food Bank Association, surpassing their goal of $50,000. This is the equivalent of 275,158 meals that Georgia’s food banks will be able to distribute to the families and children they serve across the state.

Instant Delivery Enabled for High-Tech Kitchen Gadgets

Instacart has partnered with Sur La Table to offer the high-end retailer’s smart kitchen gadgets in its high-speed delivery service. Shoppers can now get same-day delivery for groceries and more.

Drone Applications in the Creative Coast City

Farmers can now deploy unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for agronomic applications: Mapping and monitoring fields, crop-spraying and other capabilities could increase crop yields as well as reduce input costs of fertilizers and pesticides. With over 800 acres dedicated to agriculture, Fort Valley State University is a major player in this automation technology for field scouting, mapping and efficient agricultural production. Area innovators at Bull Street Labs in Savannah, Georgia learned insights from Fort Valley’s experts on implementing precision agriculture.
