According to lock manufacturer Assa Abloy, key cards were invented during the 1970’s by a man named Tor Sørnes. Also invented during the 1970’s? The floppy disk, VCRs, and Walkman’s, all things that have since become obsolete. Atlanta-based Sequr think it’s about time the key card perishes too.
