AGRO Merchants Group, a global leader in cold storage and logistics solutions, announced today the acquisition of UK-based Grocontinental Limited. This transaction reinforces AGRO’s position as the leading cold storage and logistics provider in the United Kingdom and Ireland, deepens its commodity expertise, and substantially enhances its value-added service offerings for customers.
This major European acquisition follows AGCO’s development of a North American footprint over the past year. The supply chain leader acquired Nordic Logistics and Warehousing, a Savannah, Ga based company, in late October last year. AGRO Merchants Group has since added six old storage and repack facilities in Georgia, including three major distribution centers in metropolitan Atlanta.
AGRO Merchants Group operates 63 facilities in 11 countries in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific. With 264 million cubic feet and 975,000 pallets of capacity, AGRO has become the most international, and 5th largest player in the industry globally. AGRO delivers superior fresh and frozen food handling solutions through an international network of facilities using local market knowledge, with a focus on customer care and sustainability. AGRO aspires to be the leading partner in temperature-controlled logistics for the global food industry, and is recognized for its innovative thinking, commodity expertise and ability to integrate businesses. The company is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and respect for its rich heritage. AGRO maintains three facilities in Atlanta, GA as part of its North American footprint.
