Alpharetta-based gaming company, Hi-Rez Studios recently held the first world championship for it’s SMITE video game. The event which attracted more than 2,750 gaming enthusiasts to the Cobb Energy Centre was also streamed live to 78,000 viewers around the world. Hypepotamus reports that American team, Cognitive Prime, took home the title and half of the $2.6 million prize pool in what has been described as the third largest e-sports prize pool ever.
