AUGUSTA, GA– February 15, 2017– Unisys Corp. is reportedly moving work to Augusta from a call center it is shutting down in Rochester, N.Y. According to the Augusta Chronicle and layoff notices filed with the state of New York, the company indicated last week that it would lay off 178 employees in Rochester beginning in May.
No word has been given as to how many of the eliminated positions in New York would be brought to the 74,000-square-foot Augusta operations. Based in Pennsylvania, Unisys operates a customer-service and cybersecurity center in downtown Augusta’s Port Royal building.
In 2014 the company pledged to local officials that they would create more than 700 jobs by 2019.
