UPS has officially opened a 32,000 sq m package sorting and delivery facility at London Gateway Logistics Park in south east England.
At £120m, the London hub represents one of UPS’s largest single infrastructure investments ever made outside of the US.
The new building – located close to a major maritime container hub – will serve as a UK package processing hub and distribution centre for the local area, as well as a gateway to UPS’s global logistics network.
It will have the capacity to process up to 28,000 packages per hour and there is room for further expansion.
“This state-of-the-art facility enables us to further improve our services to companies of all sizes that are looking to grow their cross-border business,” said Mark Vale, president for UPS UK, Ireland and Nordics.
