ATLANTA, Ga.–July 2, 2015–Jeff Hilimire, CEO of Dragon Army, and Adam Walker, CEO of Sideways8, announced today the launch of 48in48, an event that will bring together the Atlanta creative community to build 48 custom websites for 48 different nonprofits in 48 hours. 48in48 is scheduled to take place from October 2nd to October 4th inside General Assembly Atlanta at Ponce City Market.
“Nonprofits are so focused on helping others they don’t have time or funds to help themselves,” said Jeff Hilimire. “Imagine how much more good they could do with a great website to help them market themselves better? We hope to change that for 48 nonprofits this fall.”
Each website will have its own look and feel, custom designed with web software, WordPress. Each nonprofit will receive an estimated value of services of $25,000. To build 48 websites in 48 hours, more than two hundred and fifty volunteers are needed. 48in48 plans to assign two developers and one designer to each nonprofit along with several other UX designers, content writers and digital professionals pitching in across multiple projects. To make this never before done event happen, 48in48 is in search of creative volunteers. Nonprofits and developers interested in being a part of 48in48, please visit http://48in48.org/.
“Atlanta is filled with talented website developers, designers, and creatives who rarely get the opportunity to use their skills to help people around them,” said Adam Walker. “We want to give them that opportunity with 48in48 and hope they’ll sign up.”
Each nonprofit will receive more than a new website. They will get training on content strategy and guidance in content creation, training in using Google Grants (Google Adwords), content writing assistance, 12-months of free website hosting, a custom blog post and potential to receive additional marketing budget.
A team of sponsors are helping to fund 48in48 both during the event and after. Sponsorship dollars will go directly to the needs of nonprofits following the event, primarily for training and support as they get their new sites to launch. To date more than $100,000 dollars has been raised. 48in48 is in search of additional sponsors ahead of the event this fall.
