ATLANTA, GA– August 8, 2016– RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm, has released a report ranking Atlanta # 1 for mobile speed and data in America.
The firm took scores from the top 125 most populated metro areas in the country and ranked them from highest to lowest across each of our six categories: Overall Performance, Network Reliability, Network Speed, Data Performance, Call Performance, and Text Performance.
“Atlanta and Chicago repeated strong finishes in overall performance, ranking No. 3 and No. 5, respectively,” according to RootMetrics. “Top ten performances in speed and data contributed to the overall strong rankings for each city. Atlanta, in fact, earned the top spot in both the speed and data categories.”
Atlanta is a transmission hub for the country’s two largest fiber optic trunk routes and the city consistently ranks highest in broadband access options, Wi-Fi access points and broadband adoption. Last month, NerdWallet a personal finance website, ranked Atlanta as #1 on its list of top mobile-friendly U.S. cities.
As of February 2016, approximately 64 percent of US adults now own a smartphone, a number that has grown from 35 percent since 2011 according to RootMetrics.
