BREAKING: Twitter to Cut Staff and Kill Mobile Video App, Vine

A blue bird in the social network

SAN FRANCISCO, CA– October 27, 2016– Twitter, the popular social media service that seems to be unable to find a buyer and is losing money, is cutting it’s staff and killing off  Vine, which is a mobile video app where people share short video clips that play in a loop.

As part of a broader plan to cut costs at the San Francisco company and refocus its business, Twitter will cut 9% of its workforce or about 350 employees worldwide. The layoffs were announced alongside Twitter’s Q3 earnings early Thursday morning.

Employees were emailed about the layoffs just before the earnings were announced and will be heavily focused on Twitter’s marketing and sales teams.
