ATLANTA, GA – December 6, 2016 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has leased 62,000 square feet in Midtown Atlanta’s 715 Peachtree building to house its state-of-the-art software center and Home and Building Technologies (HBT) global headquarters. The location, in the heart of Atlanta’s thriving technology hub, will support the company’s rapid growth in developing connected, software-driven solutions.

Honeywell plans to invest $19 million in the site and staff it with more than 730 full-time product software engineers and approximately 100 HBT HQ employees over the next five years. Most of the employees will specialize in developing software products that support Honeywell’s solutions addressing the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), including mobile, cloud computing and data analytics, as well as marketing and user experience. The engineers will work on critical software and digital products as part of the company’s connected technologies for homes, buildings, industrial plants, workers, automobiles and aircraft.

The Midtown building was selected based on its proximity to Georgia Tech, access to public transportation and area amenities, scalability for future growth, and the abundant and growing pipeline of millennial talent that lives and works in the area.

“We are seeking the best of the best product software engineers from around the world to come to Atlanta,” said Krishna Mikkilineni, Honeywell senior vice president of engineering, operations and IT. “At Honeywell, product software engineers have the opportunity to develop some of the world’s most sophisticated software- and digital-based products and solutions that play a major role in the IoT, helping airplanes, automobiles, buildings, homes, industrial plants, warehouses, and workers stay connected, safe, productive and secure. And in our new Midtown location, we are building a dynamic work environment that will help inspire our engineers to innovate and collaborate.”

“As a pioneer in the IoT, Honeywell’s Home and Building Technologies business, along with the new Software Center, is developing the next generation of connected offerings that will make our customers and their customers more productive, safer, and more secure,” said HBT President and CEO Terrence Hahn. “We are excited about our new global headquarters in Midtown Atlanta.”

HBT product offerings leverage Honeywell’s advanced software and connectivity capabilities, and its installed base of products and technologies in more than 150 million homes and 10 million buildings worldwide. These solutions help homeowners stay connected and in control of home comfort, air and water purification, security, and fire systems, and help building owners and occupants ensure their facilities are safe, comfortable, and sustainable.

“We are thrilled that Honeywell will be locating its Home and Building Technologies business headquarters and a first-of-its-kind North American Software Center in Midtown Atlanta,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “Honeywell’s access to Georgia Tech, MARTA and all of the cultural amenities that can be found in the area will certainly complement its innovative work environment as the company begins to hire more than 800 employees.”

“I am pleased to welcome Honeywell to the City of Atlanta, where the company will join a strong network of Fortune 500 companies and tap into a thriving technology sector in Midtown,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “Honeywell’s presence here signifies confidence in the City of Atlanta’s ability to attract, create and retain the top talent needed for its business, as well as underscores the organization’s commitment to contribute to our local economy by offering well-paying technology jobs.”

Honeywell selected global architect M Moser Associates to lead the interior design effort for the space, which will provide an agile work environment to facilitate collaboration. M Moser will emphasize amenities that support creative, social and heads-down activities. When complete, the center will be highly adaptable to support employees’ needs, including flexible private and group workspaces.

The first employees at the 715 Peachtree site are scheduled to arrive this month and will work from temporary office space on the fourth floor. Upon completion of construction, the Honeywell team will move to the fifth and sixth floors in the building.
