It’s Not Too Late: TAG-Ed is Accepting Company and Student Applications for the 2016 High School Summer Internship Program

ATLANTA (June 9, 2016) – TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), the charitable organization established by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), is currently recruiting both students and host companies across the state of Georgia for its keynote High School Summer Internship Program.

TAG-Ed is dedicated to preparing the next-generation workforce through STEM education initiatives and real-world work experiences. TAG-Ed’s High School Summer Internship Program was launched in 2009 to encourage young adults to pursue STEM careers. Since the program began, TAG-Ed has placed over 650 students with technology and business companies in positions that provide meaningful work experience for both the student and the host company.  The goal is to place at least 200 students in business or technology internships during the summer of 2016 across the state of Georgia.

Tino Mantella, President of Technology Association of Georgia stated, “Currently we estimate that there are over 20,000 STEM job openings in Georgia, and this number is only expected to grow.  We can’t start our quest to secure Georgia STEM talent with college age students – it starts in K-12.  TAG Ed’s summer high school internship program plays an important role by giving motivated students a way to immerse themselves early in STEM careers.”

Applicants are screened for aptitude in STEM subjects and the ability to handle a professional setting. They are then partnered with area companies who provide a valuable learning experience for each of the students.

Program Highlights:

  • TAG-Ed carefully matches students with companies based on interest, skills, and education experience
  • TAG-Ed handles all the logistics, paperwork, and payment for the student, making the process simple for your company
  • Students work a minimum of five weeks for 20-30 hours per week
  • Students are paid a $1,000 stipend
  • Registration for students and companies is available online at

The benefit of TAG-Ed’s internship program is not limited to students. According to one mentor at a local technology company, “Our TAG-Ed intern was able to zoom out, see the big picture, and make strategic recommendations. I was extraordinarily satisfied with the internship program. It was a rewarding and value-adding experience.”
