ALPHARETTA, Ga., June 2, 2016– Digital Ignition, a new incubator for early-stage technology and digital media companies, will open its doors on June 15.
Located in Alpharetta, Forbes magazine’s number one place to relocate in the U.S. and home to more than 600 tech-based companies, Digital Ignition will serve the growing market of entrepreneurs in North Georgia. According to the Angel List website, which tracks start-ups, 30 percent of Georgia’s 2,400 start-ups are outside of Atlanta.
“There’s a need to connect early-stage tech entrepreneurs in North Georgia with each other and to capital opportunities, and we can help forge the connections that will develop a thriving tech community here,” said Steve Schilling, founder of Digital Ignition and president of Convergent, an award-winning leader in delivering digital location-based experiences. “I’ve been fortunate to work directly with many Atlanta area tech startups over the past decade,” he continued, “and as we at Convergent adopt a more entrepreneurial mindset in our efforts to disrupt the digital signage industry, we have an opportunity to open our doors to encourage and support innovation in North Georgia.”
Digital Ignition will occupy 45,000 square feet of Convergent’s Alpharetta headquarters, which is conveniently located at exit 12 off Georgia 400, minutes away from downtown Alpharetta and The Avalon, and steps away from the Big Creek Greenway. It will offer entrepreneurs co-working space and services to help them build their businesses, ranging from virtual to private offices that include associated support services and free parking. Digital Ignition will also host regular networking events and activities to foster a collaborative and cooperative environment among its members.
“Alpharetta is already a key player in the state with 35 percent of all the technology jobs in the region,” added Tino Mantella, president and CEO of Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). “The addition of Digital Ignition to our innovation ecosystem will only benefit the Metro Atlanta area and Georgia.”
The Digital Ignition launch event will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at 190 Bluegrass Valley Parkway in Alpharetta, and feature remarks by Digital Ignition founder Steve Schilling and TAG President and CEO Tino Mantella. The event is open to the Atlanta-area tech community, the Alpharetta business community and the media. Interested parties are invited to register for the free event at www.digitalignition.com.
