ATLANTA — August 25th, 2015–The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG Ed) will be hosting its 7th Annual Techie 5|10K Walk and Run, Saturday, October 3rd. The race will take place in the Technology Park area of Peachtree Corners, located at 130 Technology Pkwy, Gwinnett, GA 30092.

Each year, individual runners and corporate teams from across the metro Atlanta area participate in The Techie 5|10K Walk and Run which is presented by TAG and platinum event sponsors, Aaron’s, and OpenSpan. The Techie 5/10K Walk & Run is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier and is certified by USA Track & Field.

The event benefits the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), a non-profit which promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education in Georgia through web challenges, student internships, scholarships and more. It is predicted that some 211,000 STEM-related jobs will need to be filled in Georgia by 2018 and TAG-Ed is dedicated to helping the state prepare for these jobs. The Annual Techie 5|10K Walk and Run are just two of the many events that help support these efforts.

This year’s event will feature the following competitive races:

o The Corporate Cup Competition for Corporate teams in both the 5K and 10K
1st and 2nd place for overall male and female in both 5K and 10K

o Fastest CEO: Where CEO’s of corporate teams compete against each other.
The highlight of the event is the Faster than Tino Competition which will award individuals who beat the 5K race time of TAG’s President/CEO, Tino Mantella. In addition to the competitions, the event will also feature interesting booths and food from local companies.

Onsite registration will be available for runners, clubs , schools and companies interested in competing and the general public is invited to help cheer on race participants.
