About this year’s Summit topic:
Lifted by the critical acclaim of the FX series ‘Atlanta’ and ‘Drop the Mic,’ Georgia has claimed its spot as a film and music mecca. Forbe’s Magazine has listed the Rap and Hip Hop business as a $10 billion industry as far back as 2004 – leaving no question that urban music has far reaching global economic influence crossing all cultural and economic barriers.
Here in Georgia, from the early artists like Raheem the Dream, DJ Smurf (aka Mr. Collipark) to such important top selling artists as 2 Chainz, CeeLo Green, Ciara, Kris Kross, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Soulja Boy, Usher, Young Jeezy, and a multitude of others, Atlanta has stood out from other leading music centers like New York and Los Angeles as being a leader with its own stylistic influence and its role in influencing the marketing and merchandising of a whole new urban culture.
