TAG Host Bytes for Bites: Statewide Food Drive

ATLANTA, GA– April 26, 2016– The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, and Hub Magazine’s Food Technology feature, Bytes, today announced a statewide food and fund drive competition. Registration opens on June 1st. Companies across the state will compete to raise the most food and funds between July 11th and July 22nd for their local area food bank. On July 22nd TAG will be hosting a day of service to commemorate the food and fund drive.

Working with the Georgia Food Bank Association, TAG member companies will raise resources for the eight regional food banks. The food and funds raised by each company will stay local and benefit the regional food bank that serves their community. Working through nearly 2,400 partner agencies and pantries, the Food Banks collectively distribute more than 130 million pounds of food annually to all 159 countries in Georgia. Hosting the drive during the summer allows an opportunity to feed the nearly 1 in 4 children in Georgia households that are food insecure.

TAG members and companies will be able to donate food and funds, with $1 counting as 4 pounds in the competition totals. Prizes will be awarded based on how many pounds of food were collected. The prestigious TAG Cup will be awarded to the company that raises the most pounds per person. Opportunities for prizes in other categories are also available. All who are interested people should contact Zubair Hossain at zubair@tagonline.org for more information.
