BUFORD, Georgia (March 2, 2015) – Innovative wearable technology company TekWear, LLC, finished in third place at VilCap USA: Agriculture 2014, an entrepreneurial funding program devoted to finding, developing or marketing innovative products and services that provide solutions to a wide variety of agricultural and food production challenges. TekWear was chosen from more than 60 other start-up companies to take part in the three-month program and finished third among 10 finalists.
TekWear, a leading developer of apps for wireless wearable devices used in production agriculture and the food industry, is dedicated to empowering agri-food professionals by providing tools that allow them to capture actionable insights on-the-go, thereby improving safety and efficiency in the field. The company has a patent-pending wearable dashboard system that allows users to remotely monitor animals, scout for multiple crops in fields, obtain machinery support and complete a range of other essential food production tasks.

Village Capital, the organization that produces the annual accelerator program, provides vital business resources and funding to ag and food business entrepreneurs. VilCap USA: Agriculture 2014 is a peer-review model where participating company representatives from each of the 10 finalists review and vote on top participants in the program.
The accelerator program took place in Louisville, Ky., and provided the participating companies with mentorship from industry experts on the challenges facing technology startups in the agriculture industry. An additional $50,000 was awarded to each of the top two participants.
