NEWS ITEM: The Atlanta Journal & Constitution reports that two Georgia Firms have been granted permission to operate unmanned aircraft, also known as drones. The Federal Aviation Administration granted a two-year exemption allowing Norcross-based Vision Services Group LLC to operate drones to collect aerial data for agronomists, crop consultants and the forestry industry.
Cartersville-based Phoenix Air has also gained federal approval. The air charter company plans to operate drones for filmmaking, patrolling, aerial inspection and agriculture. Last year the company made national news for transporting Ebola patients in specially-equipped planes.
