Decatur is Greater According to Enterprise Magazine’s Best Cities for Startups List

DECATUR, GA– July 29, 2016– The 50 Best Cities for Your Startup list has just been released and Decatur, Georgia made the cut at #11.

The list appears in the August 2016 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. Compiled by Entrepreneur and, the list considers  a number of factors including the number of businesses and employees between 2011 and 2015; unemployment rates; number of VC deals in the past 10 years; business tax rate; value of SBA and 7(a) loans; percentage of college-educated locals; cost of living; commute time; accessibility of high-speed broadband and more.

Located just eight miles from Atlanta, Decatur is the home of Agnes Scott College and the campus of Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are located just outside of the city. A number of tech-focused organizations have a presence in the city including Devry Institue, Gimmie Games, Lenz Marketing and Police Body Cam developer, Utility Associates.

One factor contributing to Decatur’s ranking on the Top 50 list  is the presence of helpful organizations like Access to Capital, Avid Entrepreneurship, Emory Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, Entrepreneurship Center of the Urban League, and Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative Atlanta.
