Kickstarter’s Impact on the Creative Economy

July 29, 2016– A study by the University of Pennsylvania surveyed 61,654 Kickstarter projects—as well as creators and backers—to examine the crowdfunding platform’s impact on the economy and job creation.

According to the study, successful Kickstarter campaigns have helped to create 8,800 new companies that have collectively created 29,600 new jobs.

The study also reveals that 283,000 temporary workers also work on successful Kickstarter projects, with many of those projects generating an estimated gross income of more than $5.3 billion. Additionally, 82% of Kickstarter-funded companies are still in business.
