First Data Strengthens Digital Wallet Leadership


ATLANTA—-September 29, 2015– First Data Corporation, a global leader in commerce-enabling technology and solutions, continues to build its digital wallet leadership as it supports Samsung Pay, now available for in-store use in the United States. Samsung Pay will be accepted across First Data’s point-of-sale devices, including the innovative Clover® family of business management solutions. First Data’s STAR® Network, the largest independent debit network, will also support Samsung Pay.

By leveraging a new proprietary technology called Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) along with Near Field Communication (NFC), Samsung Pay is compatible with most existing payment terminals where you can tap or swipe your card. Samsung Pay is now available on the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy 6 edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones. Consumers simply launch the Samsung Pay app and scan their fingerprint to authorize the payment.
