ATLANTA (Oct. 29, 2014) – By 2018, the United States is expected to have 2.4 million unfilled jobs within the Science, Technologies, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. To help curtail these numbers, today, Great Parents Academy announces the launch of a RocketHub crowdfunding campaign to provide low-income students across the country with the company’s flagship product, GPALOVEMATH™.
In an effort to increase math scores and thus increase America’s STEM workforce, the company hopes to raise $250,000, which it will match dollar for dollar. To highlight the number of American jobs which require high level math skills, Great Parents Academy is promoting the campaign through social media using the hashtag #IWantToBe. If the project’s goal of $250,000 is met, GPA will provide 2,512 elementary school students with the opportunity to develop and advance their math skills in a fun, online learning environment. The campaign ends Jan. 20.
Recent reports show almost half of the nation’s 50 million public school students (48 percent) qualified for free or reduced lunch, and only 44 percent of low-income students score at the “Basic” level or better when it comes to math proficiency. Great Parents Academy is dedicated to helping these children reach their full potential by providing them with the skills needed help them be whatever they want to be when they grow up.
Showing a child that their #IWantToBe dream is possible, GPALOVEMATH is an online math tutoring program and learning game designed to help children in grades K-5 master math. Animated Learning Coaches help build skills, while a gamified platform keeps learning fun. GPALOVEMATH consists of three core platforms: Learn, Engage and Motivate. The application’s core platform, also known as Learn, teaches children math skills through the use of “Instruction, Practice and Quiz,” in which animated learning coaches lead students through roughly 150 lessons per year. Engage facilitates communication among teachers, students and parents via a private social network, and Motivate uses parental and commercial rewards to incentivize students’ academic progress.
Funders who give $1,000-$2,499 will receive a GPALOVEMATH license. Those who give between $2,500 and $4,999 will be rewarded with an iPad with GPALOVEMATH pre-loaded, and funders who give $5,000 or more will have receive a classroom supply of GPALOVEMATH to a school of the donor’s choice.
“Great Parents Academy is passionate about instilling a love for math in all students across the country, regardless of their parents’ economic background,” says Cynthia Morneweck, Great Parents Academy’s chief operating officer. “This crowdfunding campaign offers funders the opportunity to make an investment in our country’s future by giving a child who has always had to work harder to overcome their realities the chance to succeed and make a difference in a STEM-related career.”
