Sen. Beach Recognizes Georgia’s Health IT Industry

UnknownATLANTA (February 24, 2015) | Today, Sen. Brandon Beach (R – Alpharetta) recognized Georgia’s booming Healthcare IT industry with Senate Resolution 284 marking February 24, 2015 as Health Information Technology Day at the state capitol.

“It is my proud honor to welcome and host key players in this $4 billion dollar economic engine for our state,” said Sen. Beach. “Georgia is home to more than 200 health IT companies, which provides approximately 15,000 high-paying, in-demand jobs to our state. I want to thank the Lieutenant Governor for his leadership on this issue and every member of the Senate Science and Technology Committee that signed on in support of this resolution.”

Brandon Beach and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle recognizing today as Health Information Technology Day at the capitol.” said Tino Mantella, President of the Technology Association of Georgia. “Georgia is the nation’s leader in the Health IT field due in large part to the great partnerships and relationships with our elected officials. It is important that we continue to work together as a unit because there are 4,700 Health IT jobs available in Georgia, and we are working hard to fill our state’s Health IT workforce needs.”

Eight Georgia based health IT companies are ranked among the 2014 Healthcare Informatics 100 List: McKesson, MedAssets, Greenway Health, HealthPort Technologies, Surgical Information Systems, Navicure, Brightree, and Craneware.

Georgia’s job growth in the health IT industry is among the highest in the nation, with a growth rate of almost 20 percent in the past five years alone.

Sen. Beach serves as the Chairman of the Senate Science and Technology Committee.
