ATLANTA, Feb. 4, 2016 – The Intersect Group, a national IT, finance and accounting consulting and staffing firm, is establishing a new scholarship to support STEM education. The Intersect Group Scholarship lends support to dependent children age 21 and under of The Intersect Group consultants, clients or colleagues who plan to become IT or Finance and Accounting professionals by seeking a degree in a related field. The company has set aside $12,000 to be used for four $3,000 scholarships in 2016.

“In line with our core values and commitment to serving, we wanted to establish a new and meaningful tradition to show appreciation and support to our clients, candidates, colleagues and community,” says Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, CEO, The Intersect Group. “This new scholarship program is built on the idea that in order to realize the full potential of top talent, one must first be given the opportunity to succeed. Our hope is that this new program will give talented students in our community the support they need to succeed with a degree that’s meaningful to them.”

The new scholarship program is one of many examples of The Intersect Group’s investment in continuous learning and STEM education. The company also supports programs like MentorNet, and organizations such as the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association (AIMA), which promote the education and retention of individuals in STEM work and offer scholarship opportunities for those interested in these fields.

“For a decade, The Intersect Group has worked diligently to provide opportunities for our talented consultants at great client companies,” says Rogers Tijerino. “We know first-hand how challenging the current talent shortage for IT, Finance and Accounting professionals is and we want to be a part of the solution. Our vision is to improve our community by making it easier for great students to make education a priority in their lives.”

From now until March 31, 2016, eligible students can apply for a scholarship online. The four 2016 recipients will be announced in May.
