Atlanta, GA (October 16, 2015) – The new Women in Leadership Distinguished Scholars Series will host its inaugural program “Women’s Leadership in the Cyber World: Emerging Issues and Trends in Cybersecurity,” on Thursday, October 22 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Biltmore in Atlanta, Georgia. The Distinguished Scholars Series was established to empower women to both
persist and succeed in technology programs and careers. Offered twice each year, programs in the series will focus on a variety of issues, industries, and leadership competencies related to women in a diverse world.
The first program, “Women’s Leadership in the Cyber World,” will focus on
challenges and issues related to cyber threats and on innovative solutions to address them.
The forum will features a report on the status of women leaders, keynote speaker Colonel
Jennifer Buckner, a career military intelligence officer and newly appointed first
Commandant of the United States Army Cyber School, and a panel moderated by Dr. Uwa
Onyioha-Osimiri, Founding President of the African Women Economic Consortium (AWEC) with respondents from the academic, business, and non-profit sectors.
The Women in Leadership Distinguished Scholars Series is a collaborative initiative
of the International Women’s Think Tank, the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia
Institute of Technology, and AcademyWomen with mutual commitments to promote
women’s leadership, research, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving regarding
issues related to women and girls.
